On May 17, 2017, within the framework of the Tretyakov Gallery Opens its Storerooms project, the exhibition "Landscapes of Viktor Vasnetsov", dedicated to the birthday of the painter, opened in the House-Museum of Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov.
The host of the gala evening Lyudmila Vasilyevna Fedorova, head of the the department of creative research of Viktor Vasnetsov, told about the concept of the exhibition. Olga Alekseevna Vasnetsova, Honorary Chairman of the Vasnetsov Foundation, also addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. At the end of the evening, the house was filled with the beautiful sounds of the piano and cello, music that often sounded in this house during the artist's lifetime.
The chamber exhibition of 33 paintings and graphic sketches was the first appeal to landscape as a separate genre in the work of Viktor Vasnetsov. The rooms of the museum house feature paintings, many of which are shown to the general public for the first time. The artist created these sketches from 1868 to 1917 in Moscow, the Moscow region, Vyatka, Novy Ryabovo and in Paris. The exhibition also includes photographs from the memorial fund of Viktor Mikhailovich Vasnetsov. A special illustrated edition has been prepared for the exhibition, it presents landscape works that cover the half-century period of the artist's work.
