"Living" icons in the Vasnetsov Church

The Vasnetsovs can also be found near Izhevsk. A notable event was a visit by Elena Vladimirovna Kuznetsova, co-founder of the Vasnetsov Foundation, to the village of Pazdery, which is located on the banks of the Kama River. Fyodor Gavrilovich Vasnetsov, the great-great-grandfather of Oleg Vasilyevich Kuznetsov, served as a priest here in the second half of the XIX century. It was in the church in honor of the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God that icons with the crucifixion of the Savior, the Mother of God, appeared in an extraordinary way, nicknamed "alive" for the extraordinary phenomenon – they sailed on a raft. Years later, the priest Peter Mikhailovich Vasnetsov, the grandson of F.G. Vasnetsov, rescued icons and utensils from a fire that occurred in the church in 1923. Having received serious burns, he died two years later and was buried on the high bank of the Kama River. Now the residents are reminded of the place of his burial by four centuries-old poplars and a path from the newly reviving St. Tikhvin Monastery.
