Consecration of the Russian Orthodox St. Nicholas Cathedral of Nice

Russian Russian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Nice, one of the most beautiful churches of the Russian diaspora, was consecrated on January 19, 2016 by Oleg Vasilyevich Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Vasnetsov Foundation, and his wife. Metropolitan Vladimir served as rector of this cathedral more than 20 years ago, whose father, Mikhail Petrovich Tikhonitsky, was baptized by Mikhail Vasnetsov in the Church of the Saviour. Wow. Mikhail Tikhonitsky was shot on September 20, 1918 by the God-fighting authorities, in 2003 he was canonized and canonized.

The Cathedral in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in 1912 by the zeal of the Royal Family, primarily thanks to the financial support of the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna and her son Nikolai Alexandrovich. In 2014, after returning to the ownership of Russia, the cathedral was closed for restoration. On January 19, 2016, on the feast of the Epiphany of the Lord, the Divine Liturgy and consecration of the renovated church took place, conducted by His Grace Bishop Nestor of Korsun and Bishop Anthony. As part of the opening of the cathedral, Oleg Vasilyevich Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Vasnetsov Foundation, met with Alexander Orlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to France and Monaco, Bishop Nestor of Korsun and Bishop Anthony, as well as with Archpriest Andrei Eliseev, rector of the cathedral, they discussed issues of promoting the spread of Russian cultural heritage on the French coast.
